LM3914

The LM3914 is a monolithic integrated circuit that senses analog voltage levels and drives 10 LEDs, providing a linear analog display. A single pin changes the display from a moving dot to a bar graph. Current drive to the LEDs is regulated and programmable, eliminating the need for resistors. This feature is one that allows operation of the whole system from less than 3V. The circuit contains its own adjustable reference and accurate 10-step voltage divider. The low-bias-current input buffer accepts signals down to ground, or V−, yet needs no protection against inputs of 35V above or below ground. The buffer drives 10 individual comparators referenced to the precision divider. Indication non-linearity can thus be held typically to ½%, even over a wide temperature range.

100 LED Oscilloscope

“This is my next build using LED matrix’s. You may have seen my last one - 81 LED Chaser, well this project uses 100 LED’s and is an oscilloscope! Admittedly, the resolution isn’t great for checking measurements (it …

Vu Meter LM3914 Vs LM3915

“A few months ago I made a Vu Meter using IC LM3915. The results from the Vu meter are quite good for me. And in this article I made another vu meter with a different IC. The IC that I …

Low cost Carbon Monoxide meter

“Today Carbon Monoxide (CO) meters are available in different forms. Overall, Carbon Monoxide meters sense CO fast and display the amount to the user and trigger alarm if it reaches a critical level. Compare with most of the DIY Carbon …

Simple VU-Meter Circuit

“I put together this Voltage Unit (VU) meter using LEDs on a breadboard the other day. It only has 4 LEDs, but can easily be expanded to more It’s basically a simple display for showing a value. It’s …

Zappette The Robot Clock

“This is Zappette The Robot Clock! Years ago I made Zappo The Robot Clock for my son. Now I needed to make one for my daughter. Zappette is an Arduino microcontroller based, fully functioning alarm clock and MP3 player with …

Battery Level Indicator

“If, like me, you have a camera, you certainely also have some batteries, the issue is, you never know if a battery is full or empty ! so I made a portable module on a battery cap, in order to give …

DIY Battery Level Indicator/Auto Cutoff for 12v Battery

“DIYers…We have all been through the situation when our high end chargers are busy charging those lithium polymer batteries but you still need to charge that 12v lead acid battery and the only charger you got is a blind …

O2 Sensor Tester ( Lambda Sensor)

“O2 sensors do wear out and eventually need to be replaced. The performance of the O2 sensor tends to diminish with age as contaminants accumulate on the sensor tip and gradually reduce it’s voltage. This is caused by substances …
