Demonstrate how water filtration system mechanism by using Arduino as microcontroller

Water, the foundation of life, is an essential resource for humanity. Access to clean water is a basic human right that is interconnected with other human rights. The efficient management and governance of water resources play a crucial role in the realization of various human rights, such as the right to life, health, food, dignity, a healthy environment, and a decent standard of living. Recognizing the significance of this issue, the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ECSR Committee) officially adopted General Comment No. 15 in 2002, acknowledging that the human right to water entitles all individuals to access adequate, safe, affordable, physically accessible, and satisfactory water for personal and domestic use.

The UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights to Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation, Mr. Leo Heller, reports that 92% of Malaysia’s population has access to safe water services. However, recent years have witnessed alarming incidents of water contamination that have severely affected the ecosystem of rivers and the sustainability of water resources in Malaysia. Despite the existence of federal and state laws, water pollution, particularly from industries, remains widespread and has significant adverse effects on the environment and public health.

Therefore, our group has decided to make this project by using Arduino as microcontroller with other sensors and actuators to construct water filtration system. The cost for this project is around RM110 only for sensors, actuator and wiring. Many items were using recycle stuff such as 1.5L Pepsi bottle, filter papers were replaced by one layer mask for each bottle. This had made our project more environmental friendly and affordable.”
