PCF8523

The PCF8523 is a CMOS Real-Time Clock (RTC) and calendar optimized for low power consumption. Data is transferred serially via the I²C-bus with a maximum data rate of 1000 kbit/s. Alarm and timer functions are available with the possibility to generate a wake-up signal on an interrupt pin. An offset register allows fine-tuning of the clock. The PCF8523 has a backup battery switch-over circuit, which detects power failures and automatically switches to the battery supply when a power failure occurs.

Project  Slide Clock

Slide Clock

“I enjoy designing and building interesting clocks and am always looking at unique ways to display the time. This clock uses 4 vertical slides that contain the numbers. Four stepper motors position the slides so that correct time is shown …

Refrigerator Magnet Clock

“I’ve always been fascinated by unusual clocks. This is one of my latest creations that uses refrigerator alphabet numbers to display the time. The numbers are placed on a piece of thin white Plexiglas that has thin sheet metal …

Moon Phase Display

“A battery powered e-ink display showing the current phase of the moon. I’ve used this project as a way to learn. It includes my first custom PCB, one of my first 3D prints, my first encounter with open source …

Project  MirrorClock

MirrorClock

“Just a side project for fun (actually trying out other combinations with the spy mirror, in this case a combination of diffuse acrylic as kind of light guidance). Nothing new by itself, just a remix/thrown together of well-known technologies …

Build an Arduino 101 Data Logger with the TI SensorTag

“In this project, we build an economical and full-featured Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) data logging system that takes readings from multiple sensors and saves the data to an SD memory card. A data logger is an integral part of environmental …
