“PROBLEM: We moved into a new house a couple of years ago, and it already had a security system installed. Problem was that nobody knew the password! The previous owners never used it, and the manufacturer had gone out of business. Despite extensive internet searches, and even consulting a security expert, the system remained a ‘brick on the wall’. SOLUTION: A perfect opportunity for DIY. I wanted to use the use the already installed wired PIR motion sensors and smoke detectors, I wanted the Main Panel and Keypad to be ‘drop in replacements’ for the existing units, and I also wanted to add some extra features like card access and internet connectivity.”
