The National University of Science and Technology "MISiS" (formerly known as the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys State Technological University) is a Russian technical university—the first to gain the status of National University of Science and Technology. As of 2018, NUST MISIS comprises nine colleges and five branches—four in Russia and one abroad.

New technology for aviation materials to allow adjusting their properties

“Russian scientists have proposed a technology for a lightweight and durable composite material creation. It is based on a polymer matrix and carbon fibers. Such material can be used in aircraft construction to create elements of a power set and …

Scientists Discover New Type of Quasiparticle

“Russian scientists have experimentally proved the existence of a new type of quasiparticle — previously unknown excitations of coupled pairs of photons in qubit chains. This discovery could be a step towards disorder-robust quantum metamaterials. The study was published in Physical …

Scientists Got Photons to Interact, Taking Step Towards Long-Living Quantum Memory

“An international research team obtained experimental evidence for effective interaction between microwave photons via superconductive qubits for the first time. The study, published in npj Quantum Materials, may be a step towards the implementation of a long-living quantum memory and …

Scientists Take Step Towards Quantum Supremacy

“A Russian-German research team has created a quantum sensor that grants access to measurement and manipulation of individual two-level defects in qubits. The study by NUST MISIS, Russian Quantum Center and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, published in npj Quantum …

A New Modifier Increases the Efficiency of Perovskite Solar Cells

“The research team of NUST MISIS has presented an improved structure of perovskite solar cells. Scientists have modified perovskite-based solar cells using MXenes — thin two-dimensional titanium carbides with high electrical conductivity. The MXenes-based modified cells showed superior performance, with power …

Scientists Developed an Efficient Way to Produce Low-Cost Heatsinks

“NUST MISIS scientists found a way to reduce the cost of industrial and electronics heatsinks production up to 10 times. Consequently, the product itself would also cost less. The proposed methods presume the use of rubbers and silicon carbide as …

Scientists Manage to Improve Metallic Glasses

“Researchers at National University of Science and Technology MISIS (NUST MISIS) have managed to develop a unique method to process bulk metallic glasses. According to the authors of the study, they have managed to find processing conditions that significantly improve …

Scientists Discover New Remarkable Materials Properties at Ultrahigh Pressure

“An international team of scientists from NUST MISIS (Russia), Linköping University (Sweden) and University of Bayreuth (Germany) found that, contrary to the usual physical and chemical laws, the structure of some materials does not condense at ultrahigh pressures. Actually, it …

Body heat into electricity: scientists developed a new way to charge gadgets

“Scientists from NUST MISIS have developed a new type of energy-efficient devices — thermocells that convert heat into energy. This will make possible creation of portable batteries that can be applied to virtually any surface, including clothing, to generate electricity directly …

Sodium Can Replace Lithium in Batteries

“An international team of scientists from NUST MISIS, Russian Academy of Science and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf found that instead of lithium (Li), sodium (Na) “stacked” in a special way can be used for batteries production. Sodium batteries will be significantly …
