CD4049

The IC 4049 is a CMOS logic chip, that is six independent inverter. It is used for interfacing and to make simple clock pulse generators and oscillators. Connect two in series to make a non-inverting buffer. The input-signal high level (VIH) can exceed the VCC supply voltage when these devices are used for logic-level conversions. These devices are intended for use as CMOS to DTL/TTL converters and can drive directly two DTL/TTL loads. The Maximum power supply must not exceed 18 volts.

Make a Ribbon Controller

“Ribbon controllers are a great way to control a synth. They consist of a touch-sensitive strip that lets you control pitch continuously. The electrically conductive strip called ‘velostat’ that responds to changes in voltage or resistance caused by moving your …

DIY Mini Oscilloscope

“Build this small oscilloscope. Frequency range is up to 40KHz(25uS full screen) In 4 selectable ranges. Input voltage is between 50mVpp and 50Vpp in 2 selectable ranges. Gain is adjustable between 1 and 100. Accepts AC or DC input …

Build an Electronic Audio Game with a Pencil, Paper, and Conductive Ink

“Over the years there have been many electronic toys that let you play with and learn about electricity. Jay Silver’s Drawdio (Figure A) from 2008 combines a simple 555 timer circuit with a pencil to make squeals, beeps, and …

How to Build Your Own Discrete 4-Bit ALU

“Believe it or not, computers existed before microcontrollers and CPUs were around. They used to be built using discrete parts including simple ICs and transistors. CPUs are arguably the center of modern electronics, whether it be a mobile device or …
