The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is the fourth autonomous university in Singapore, next to Upper Changi MRT station. SUTD's interim campus was situated at the former ITE College Dover campus in Dover from its founding in April 2012 until December 2014. Its permanent campus, which opened in January 2015, is located near the Changi Business Park, and is served by Upper Changi Station on the Downtown MRT Line. As of 2018, it is the only university to be located in the eastern part of Singapore. Through an open selection process, SUTD appointed DP Architects Pte. Ltd., in collaboration with UNStudio from Amsterdam, to design the academic cluster of its permanent campus in Upper Changi.

Using Quantum Parrondo’s Random Walks for Encryption

“Assistant Professor Kang Hao Cheong and his research team from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) have set out to apply concepts from quantum Parrondo’s paradox in search of a working protocol for semiclassical encryption. In a …

Boosting Energy Efficiency of 2D Material Electronics using Topological Semimetal

“SUTD researchers discover a new way to boost the energy efficiency of 2D semiconductor electronics by synergizing 2D materials and topological semimetals. Driven by the ever-increasing desires of the consumer market for smaller, lighter and smarter devices, the size of …

To Make an Atom-Sized Machine, You Need a Quantum Mechanic

“Researchers in Singapore turn a single atom into a quantum engine and a quantum fridge Here’s a new chapter in the story of the miniaturisation of machines: researchers in a laboratory in Singapore have shown that a single atom …

Researchers demonstrate three-dimensional quantum hall effect for the first time

“The three-dimensional quantum Hall effect was predicted more than 30 years ago, but has not been observed until now by the Singapore University of Technology and Design together with international researchers. The quantum Hall effect (QHE), which was previously known …

Researchers develop process flow for high-res 3D printing of mini soft robotic actuators

“SUTD, SUSTech and ZJU researchers’ proposed process flow guides 3D printing of miniature soft pneumatic actuators. Integrating the prints into a robotic system offers potential applications in jet-engine maintenance and minimally invasive surgery. Soft robots are a class of robotic …

Multimaterial 3D printing used to develop Fast Response Stiffness-tunable Soft Actuator

“In search of stiffness-tunable materials that help increase the load capacity of soft robotic systems without sacrificing their compliance during robot-object interaction, thermally activated shape memory polymers (SMPs) stand out as a promising candidate. Not only are SMPs capable of …
