The Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) is an international, state-supported, post-graduate-education and research institute, located in Trieste, Italy. SISSA is active in the fields of mathematics, physics, and neuroscience, offering both undergraduate and post-graduate courses. Each year, about 70 PhD students are admitted to SISSA based on their scientific qualifications. SISSA also runs master's programs in the same areas, in collaboration with both Italian and other European universities.

The Riemann conjecture unveiled by Physics

“The new piece of research, carried out by by Giuseppe Mussardo, professor of Theoretical Physics at SISSA, and Andrè Leclair of Cornell University (USA) has just been published in the Journal of Statistical Mechanics (JSTAT) A mystery of mathematics that …

Quantum simulators for gauge theories

“A new study by SISSA and ICTP shows how atomic physics experiments allow for simulation of the forces that govern our universe more efficiently than traditional calculators do To simulate in a laboratory what happens in particle accelerators has been …

Graphene flakes for future transistors

“Graphene nanoflakes are promising for possible applications in the field of nanoelectronics, and the subject of a study recently published in Nano Letters. These hexagonal nanostructures exhibit quantum effects for modulating current flow. Thanks to their intrinsic magnetic properties, they …

The multiferroic sandwich

“Two properties are particularly sought after in materials for technology (for a variety of devices from sensors to computer memory, etc.): magnetism and ferroelectricity. Obtaining materials with both qualities is highly desirable. At the present time, these properties have shown …
