MOC3021

The MOC3021 is a Zero-Crossing TRIAC driven Optocoupler or Optoisolator. As we know the term Optocoupler/optoisolater means the same that is we use light to indirectly couple to sets of circuits. The speciality of MOC3021 is that it has Zero-Crossing ability and is driven by a Triac. Since the output is driven by a TRIAC we can drive loads upto 400V and the triac can conduct in both directions hence controlling AC loads will not be a problem. Also since it has zero-crossing ability, when the AC load is switched on for the first time the TRIAC will start conductiong only after the AC wave reaches 0V this way we can avoid direct peak voltages to the Load and thus preventing it from getting damaged. It also has a decent rise and fall time and hence can be used to control the output voltage.

Arduino Based AC Voltage Control using Zero Voltage Crossing

“Usually, our home appliances run on single-phase AC voltage. And in India usually, a house is supplied with single-phase AC voltage with a voltage range of about 220-240 volts at 50Hz(your supply may be different). AC voltage in its …

DIY Solid State Relay module

“This is the solid state relay which is same as sugar cube relays available in market, These SSR based on electronics switching. Relays are the most useful and stable AC power switching components. Relays provide complete isolation of DC operating …

Digital Fan Regulator

“Control fan using any microcontroller. in one of our projects, we need to speed control of ceiling fan so we made a circuit. this circuit is divided in to two-part 1. zero-cross detector 2. trice circuit for control in the …

Powerful Digital AC Dimmer Using STM32

“This project is only free for personal and non-commercial use AC loads live with us! Because they are everywhere around us and at least home appliances are supplied with the mains power. Many types of industrial equipment are also powered …

How to Build an Isolated Digital AC Dimmer Using Arduino

“Disclaimer: This circuit is connected directly to the mains voltage. You must care about all safety precautions before using the device. AC loads are everywhere around us because at least home appliances are supplied with the mains power. Therefore, we …

Edison Lamp Dimmer 230V Arduino IRDA Remote Control

“In this instructable I show You how to make 230V dimmer based on Arduino.I use remote controller of my Samsung TV, but it’s not necesary. Take a look at YouTube video embedded above. In nex steps I describe …

DIY Solid State Relay

“Ever wanted to get rid of that tic-tac sound electromagnetic relays make? Electromagnetic relays require significant power to turn the electromagnet on/off and need a driver circuit for that, oh! wait! also they need a flyback diode to avoid …

Arduino controlled light dimmer

“Switching an AC load with an Arduino is rather simpel: either a mechanical relay or a solid state relay with an optically isolated Triac. (I say Arduino, but if you use an 8051 or PIC16F877A microcontroller, there is stuff for …
